Michel Dalberto celebrates a brilliant debut in Prague

The French pianist spectacularly performed at the opening concert of the French EU Council Presidency.

It was his late debut in Prague, but what a brilliant one! Michel Dalberto performed at the opening concert of the French EU Presidency together with the Prague Philharmonic under conductor Emmanuel Villaume.

In the splendid Smetana Hall of Prague’s Municipal House the “Concerto in G major” and the “Bolero” by Maurice Ravel formed the climax of a varied program with other works by Bizet, Debussy and Martinů. The young pianist Stanislav Gallin already developed his dexterity in Martinů's "Toccata e due canzoni". Then Dalberto impressively demonstrated why he is one of the most important French pianists of our time.

With stunning virtuosity Michel Dalberto wowed in the fast corner movements, in the "Adagio assai" he sang enchantingly beautiful on the keys - and the amazing colors that he elicited from the C. Bechstein concert grand piano D 282 made the evening a great moment of music! After the sensually shimmering water mermaid "Ondine" and Rachmaninoff's superb transcription of Schubert's song "Wohin?" as encores, Dalberto was enthusiastically celebrated.
