Where music can be experienced with all senses

The new C. Bechstein Düsseldorf impresses with an innovative store concept.

From the outside visitors can already guess what there is to expect at the new C. Bechstein Centrum Düsseldorf: the imposing glass arch facade with a golden logo resembles the contour of a grand piano from above, while inside the showroom the high-gloss ceiling and the piano string matrix create the feeling of being there right in the heart of a C. Bechstein instrument.

The grand opening of this innovative showroom concept was celebrated on March 10, 2022 - and the first concert for the inauguration was given by none other than star pianist Chilly Gonzales. In his incomparably rousing and ecstatic manner, he impressively brought out all the facets of a C. Bechstein D 282 concert grand piano.

Also present on the opening evening were Valeria and Alejandro Gonzalez-Gerwig, scholarship holders of the Carl Bechstein Foundation, who performed works by Claude Debussy. Stefan Freymuth, CEO of C. Bechstein Pianoforte AG, and Reza Indrakesuma, head of the C. Bechstein Center Düsseldorf, each gave short speeches.

Inspection of a musical masterpiece

The new C. Bechstein Centrums Düsseldorf was designed by the award-winning interior designer Nik Schweiger from Barefoot Design. On 700 square meters, under black mirrored ceilings and planted daylight domes, around 60 instruments, from concert grand pianos to a large selection of upright pianos and digital pianos, are impressively presented. Nik Schweiger explained: “The entire design approach is inspired by music and, in addition to the impressive atmosphere, is characterized by excellent acoustics. C. Bechstein stands for a well thought-out understanding of quality and this is reflected in the entire design language.”

Music fans can also look forward to a special acoustic experience. A 200 square meter image composition of the famous Huang Shan Mountains in China absorbs various low frequencies thanks to sophisticated technology and thus ensures an excellent sound environment at concerts. The harmonious fusion of design and technology makes music not only tangible, but alive.

All in all is the new C. Bechstein Centrum Düsseldorf a luxurious flagship store that represents the ideal space for the unique, precious C. Bechstein sound.
