September 2020

In September, exquisite music celebration has been held at the historic Tsinandali Estate for two years now. Despite a number of the world pandemic related obstacles, the tradition established in 2019 was successfully carried on this year. Within such short time-period, the festival obtained rather an important role in the musical-cultural world not only in Georgia but worldwide.

Participation of living legends, prominent musician-performers and diversity of genres instantly arouses interest and captures the attention of listeners of different ages and various musical tastes. Involvement of promising young musicians in the festival events is also noteworthy. On September 17 to 20 the stage of a beautiful amphitheatre was graced by the greatest violinist of our time Lisa Batiashvili; acclaimed pianist Nelson Goerner; also, the owner of the Gold Medal and Grand Prix of the Tchaikovsky competition, pianist Alexandre Kantorow and virtuoso violinist Daniel Lozakovich; National Philharmonic Orchestra, maestro Nikoloz Rachveli and Georgian National Ballet Sukhishvili. Lisa Batiashvili presented talented Georgian musicians of the young generation: Cotne Zedginidze (piano), Giorgi Gigashvili (piano), Anastasia Aghladze (violin) and Mirian Kvaliashvili (cello). They performed solo and chamber music repertoire and offered a wonderful concert to the attendees.

The biggest achievement of the festival was the participation of the phenomenal pianist Martha Argerich, who gifted the audience with unforgettable moments two evenings in a row. The exceptionally interesting and overly professional musical tandem of Nelson Goerner and Martha Argerich has left an indelible impression on each listener.

As one of the main partners of the festival was the company C. Bechstein, all of the concerts were performed on the C. Bechstein concert grand D282. Thus, "The Sound of Excellence" was the true leitmotif of the second instalment of Tsinandali Festival, in a very obvious way.
