“Fingerprints” – the new Bechstein CD from Haiou Zhang

"Fingerprints" is the name of the Hänssler Classic CD that Haiou Zhang recorded last summer on a C. Bechstein D 282 concert grand in the Jesus Christ Church in Berlin-Dahlem. The virtuoso from China will be presenting the same music live during recitals in five German cities.

Talking about his new CD, Haiou Zhang says: “The compositions on Fingerprints are of various styles and epochs. For all their diversity, however, they have one thing in common: each of them evokes the memory of a wonderful, in some cases deeply moving concert experience. […] I have played every one of them worldwide at least fifty times. The recordings embody these multilayered concert experiences, bringing the tone images to renewed life.”

The CD includes the following works:

Johann Sebastian Bach: Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue in D minor (BWV 903)
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Piano Sonata in F major (KV 332)
Ludwig van Beethoven: Piano Sonata in C major, op. 53, “Waldstein”
Alexander Scriabin: Album Leaf in E flat major, op. 45/1
Claude Debussy: Étude no. 11, “Pour les arpèges composés”
Maurice Ravel: La Valse
Wang Jianzhong: Liuyang River
