Cédric Tiberghien won the 1998 Long Thibaud Competition in Paris. Along with the main prize he was honored with five special prizes, among which were the Public's Prize and the prize for the best concert rendition. Since then he is considered among the stars of the classic scene in France: Harmonica Mundi France signed a contract with him while he simultaneously performed with all important orchestras in his home country. In the meantime, word of mouth has passed around what his capabilities are: Among his most recent international engagements are performances with Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Israel Chamber Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. Cédric Tiberghien is one of the most prominent representatives of the BBC's "New Generation Artists Scheme," which has made possible performances with all BBC orchestras and piano evenings in the most important British halls. In this connection, there resulted a recording of Brahms Concerto No. 1 with BBC Symphony Orchestra under Jiri Belohlavek, which appeared with Harmonia Mundi France. Under the same label, four recital CDs, which Tiberghien dedicated to works of Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin and Debussy. were published.
