Kit Armstrong goes on "A Musical Odyssey"

"My homeland is music - it's a land without borders, and with diverse landscapes." Explains the pianist in the film directed by Francis Marcellet

A film that the French producer and director Francis Marcellet shot in 2020 bears the title "1520-2020 - A Musical Odyssey" and is now available for sale on his website in the form of a double DVD. The film stars pianist Kit Armstrong, who says, "My homeland is music - it's a land without borders, and with diverse landscapes."

In the film, the outstanding pianist visits some musical places of the past and present, plays and explains works by Byrd, Couperin and Mozart to Liszt and Armstrong himself.

Unusual cinematic solutions give the film an additional dimension: Sometimes the pianist sits at the C. Bechstein grand pianoD 282 in his church, the L'Èglise Sainte-Thérèse-de-l'Enfant-Jésus in Hirson, France, sometimes he is placed in outer space or in virtual oregami rooms.

The trilingual DVD (English, French and German) is supplemented by a second DVD, on which a concert recording from 2021 from L'Èglise Sainte-Thérèse-de-l'Enfant-Jésus in Hirson, France is filmed. This time Armstrong performs works by Byrd, Bull, Bach, Liszt and Gershwin and shows how versatile and expressive his piano performances are. The fact, that the C. Bechstein D 282 concert grand piano also plays a major role here alongside Kit should not be concealed.
