2019 is the 166th anniversary of C. Bechstein. Since its founding in Berlin in 1853, C. Bechstein builds upright and grand pianos based on the rich German traditional craftsmanship of piano making, following the ideal of touch & tone as created by its original founder Carl Bechstein.
At Music China 2019, C. Bechstein presented the full range of its products, and for the first time unveiled the mysterious and legendary C. Bechstein “Sphinx” Art Case Grand Piano to the Chinese public. On the morning of October 10th, and throughout the whole trade show, the C. Bechstein “Sphinx” Grand Piano became the focus of the exhibition and attracted an endless stream of professional visitors. Their recorded videos and photos quickly went viral on Social Media, following several interviews for National TV in China. The "Sphinx” Grand Piano is equipped with an automatic performance system, which continuously played piano music during the show.
On 10 October, Mr. ZHOU Xianghao, President of C. Bechstein Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. , Mr. CAI Na, Vice General Manager and C. Bechstein Germany’s CSO, Mr. Ralf Dewor attended the booth and gave personal presentations to the professional audience.
In addition to the "Sphinx” Grand Piano, there were many other highlights at the C. Bechstein booth, special veneer finishes, such as walnut, burl walnut or mahogany. One of the W. Hoffmann grand pianos was equipped with the C. Bechstein Vario system, which connects the acoustic instrument to the digital world, including the possibility to play the piano silent.
