Wataru Hisasue has received numerous international awards, including 2nd prize at the 2025 Queen Elisabeth Competition, 3rd prize and the Special Prize for the Dusapin Commission at the 66th ARD Music Competition, as well as several prizes at the 2024 Géza Anda Competition and the Kyoto Aoyama Music Foundation Awards. He won first prize at the 2016 Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University Competition and first prize plus the Audience Prize at the Concours International de Piano de Lyon. Hisasue has performed in Germany, Japan, Korea, France, Spain, Finland, Belgium, and the Netherlands, including at the Audi Summer Concert, the Schwetzingen SWR Festival, and the Festival de Torroella de Montgrí. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, the Brussels Philharmonic, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra under conductors including Michael Francis, Mikhail Pletnev, and Kazushi Ōno. He has received support from the Heiwado Foundation, the Rohm Music Foundation, and the Carl Bechstein Foundation, among others. He studied with Kuniko Murakami, Yasuko Tasumi, Gilead Mishory, Emmanuel Strosser, Pascal Devoyon, and Klaus Hellwig. His new album featuring works by Pascal Dusapin will be released in fall 2025 by Bayerischer Rundfunk and GENUIN classics.
