Vincent Ong, born in Malaysia in 2001, has established himself as one of the most exciting young pianists of his generation. He gained international attention in 2025 at the 19th International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, where he became the first Malaysian pianist to reach the finals and was awarded a laureate prize. Prior to that, in 2024, he won First Prize at the 19th International Robert Schumann Piano Competition. His concert career has taken him around the world to sold-out recitals, including at the Seoul Arts Center, the Taipei National Concert Hall, Hamarikyu Hall in Tokyo, and the Nohant Festival Chopin in France. His repertoire ranges from Bach to Chopin to Ligeti, characterized by poetic imagination, structural clarity, and a blend of composition and improvisation. Ong studied with Ng Chong Lim in Malaysia and with Eldar Nebolsin at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin. He has been inspired by musicians such as Elisabeth Leonskaja, Elisso Virsaladze, Piotr Anderszewski, and Kirill Gerstein. He is a scholarship recipient of the Lucia Loeser Foundation and the Fondation Clavarte, and a participant in the Lieven International Piano Foundation in Vienna.
