Raúl da Costa has established himself as a distinctive artistic figure on the international music scene. Known for the clarity, imagination, and depth of his interpretations, he regularly performs on major European stages, including the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Palau de la Música Catalana, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the Lockenhaus Festival, and the Liszt Academy in Budapest. He made his orchestral debut at the age of twelve at the Casa da Música in Porto. He has performed with leading orchestras in Portugal and internationally and has collaborated with artists such as Anja Lechner, Anouar Brahem, Sergei Nakariakov, Bruno Monsaingeon, Albrecht Mayer, and Michael Barenboim. His performances have been broadcast by ARTE, Deutsche Grammophon, Deutschlandradio, NDR, and Radio France, among others. His recordings include Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Porto Symphony Orchestra and works with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León. He studied with Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, Bernd Goetzke, and Kirill Gerstein and was a scholarship recipient of the Gulbenkian and Carl Bechstein Foundations. Since 2018, he has directed the International Music Festival of Póvoa de Varzim.
