Pavel Kolesnikov studied at the Moscow Conservatory under Sergei Dorensky, at the Royal College of Music in London under Norma Fisher and at the Chapelle musicale Reine-Élisabeth in Brussels under Maria João Pires. He won the Milstein Medal and an RCM Benjamin Britten Fellowship and distinguished himself in several international competitions, including the Honens Klavierwettbewerb. Moreover, he was a member of the BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists and received the 2019 UK Critics’ Circle Young Talent Award.
Pavel has performed at renowned venues (Louvre, Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall, Berlin’s Konzerthaus, Kings Place and Queen Elizabeth Hall in London), given recitals organized by the Vancouver Recital Society and the La Jolla Music Society, participated in various festivals (Spoleto Festival USA, Ottawa Chamberfest, Banff Summer Festival) and performed with numerous major orchestras (Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Russian Philharmonic Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales).
