The French-Cypriot pianist Cyprien Katsaris has won various international competitions and has performed with the world’s leading orchestras (Berliner Philharmoniker, Staatskapelle Dresden, Deutsches Symphonieorchester, Cleveland Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest), conducted by such celebrated figures as Leonard Bernstein, Christoph von Dohnányi, Charles Dutoit, Ivan Fischer, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Sir Charles Mackerras, Sir Neville Marriner, Kent Nagano, Sir Simon Rattle and Mstislav Rostropovich.

Katsaris recorded numerous albums for BMG-RCA, Decca, Deutsche Grammophon, EMI, Pavane, Sony Classical and Teldec, before creating his own label: Piano 21. His discography includes solo piano works by the greatest composers, works for piano and orchestra by Bach, Brahms and Liszt, as well as all the Mozart concertos, recorded during recitals in Vienna and Salzburg.

Two great directors, Claude Chabrol and Oscar winner François Reichenbach, have made documentary films of several of his recitals.

A special feature of the concert is the performance of the Silent movie "The Assassination of the Duke of Guise", a French historical film from 1908 about the circumstances of the death of Henri I. de Lorraine, Duke of Guise. This silent movie was one of the first and most successful films produced by brothers Paul and Léon Laffitte or their film production company Le Film d'Art. For the screenplay, they hired the renowned writer Henri Lavedan. For the film music, they enlisted Camille Saint-Saëns, probably the most famous living composer in France at the time. Cyprien Katsaris will accompany the film live.

With the kind support of Konzerthaus Berlin and RBB Kultur.

Tickets at 25 and 20 euros plus fee are available directly at the Konzerthaus Berlin.
