Elena Kolesnichenko was born in 1981 in Kharkiv (Ukraine) into a modest family. On discovery of her outstanding musical talent at the age of seven, she was admitted first to the conservatory for gifted children in her native city and then to the Moscow Conservatory. As a nine-year-old, she performed at the Pope’s residence in Vatican City and at the UNO headquarters in New York. A typical representative of the Russian school of piano and a highly talented artist with a perfect mastery of her instrument, she moved to Germany when she was eighteen and studied at the Musikhochschule in Hanover under Professor Vladimir Krainev. As a specialist in Beethoven’s repertoire, she chose works by the great German composer for her first solo album, released in 2014. When she performs on stage, she does without special effects, concentrating instead on the power of music. Her crystal-clear attack, rhythmic vitality and passionate interaction with her piano have enthralled audiences at Cologne’s Philharmonic Hall and various smaller venues.
