Chi Ho Han
Germany-based Korean concert pianist Chi-Ho Han impresses as an equally enthusiastic interpreter of classical and contemporary repertoire on all continents, winning the 2014 ARD International Music Competition (Germany) with the Audience Award and Best Performance for Commissioned Works, First Prize at the Seoul International Music Competition (Korea) and Silver Medal at the Gina Bachauer International Artists Piano Competition (USA). Later as a prize winner of the 2016 Queen Elisabeth International Competition, his sensational interpretation of the orchestral commission “A Butterfly's Dream” by Claude Ledoux received high acclaim and was selected for the competition recording.
Han has performed in major European and Asian cities, as well as at renowned venues such as the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna; the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing; the Herkulessaal Prinzregententheater in Munich; the Gewandhaus in Leipzig; and the Tonhalle in Zurich. Highlights of the 2019 season include Tchaikovsky's First Concerto with renowned conductor Myung-Whun Chung on tour in Korea.
With his extraordinary intellectual depth, linguistic talent, and strong broadcasting awareness, Han has worked in Seoul on audience-building programs, including weekly radio episodes for the Korean Broadcasting System, as well as other cultural projects. Born in Seoul, Korea, in 1992, Han earned his Master of Music degree in 2017 and his Solo Class degree in 2019 at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media under Arie Vardi. He is also a young artist at the International Lake Como Piano Academy.
A protégé of pianist-composer György Kurtág, and a former student of Prof. Arnulf von Arnim and Prof. Arie Vardi, Han is currently Professor at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
