At the express request of Sir András Schiff, the Barenboim-Said Academy in Berlin has received a C. Bechstein B 212 grand piano. The instrument has now found its new home in the Mozart Auditorium of the renowned academy.
Sir András Schiff has been teaching at the Kronberg Academy for years on two C. Bechstein B 212 grand pianos. He is clearly satisfied with them, as he requested a C. Bechstein B 212 for the Barenboim-Said Academy as well. Last year, he and his assistant, Schaghajegh Nosrati, selected the right instrument at the C. Bechstein Center in Berlin.
The new C. Bechstein B 212 grand piano has a permanent home in the Mozart Auditorium at the Barenboim-Said Academy. It is used for teaching, rehearsals, chamber music coaching sessions, lectures, auditions, and more. The auditorium seats up to 100 people, and the piano's sound fills the space beautifully. Recently, Sir András Schiff and Schaghajegh Nosrati met there with students Mahya Mohammadi, Hyunji Kim, Ali Qawasma, Eda Seviniş, Kiana Reid, Isa Trotta, Mihály Boros, Tähe-Lee Liiv, and Raquel Fisk for a photo session.
Incidentally, Sir András Schiff presents selected talents who have studied at the Barenboim-Said Academy and/or the Kronberg Academy at Vienna’s Ehrbar Saal as part of the “Building Bridges” series. Last year, for example, Tähe-Lee Liiv wowed the audience with a performance on the C. Bechstein D 282 concert grand piano in the Ehrbar Hall. On April 23, 2026, Itamar Carmeli will make his debut there. Isa Trotta will perform in Vienna on October 15, 2026, as part of the C. Bechstein Piano Recital Series.
Sir András is delighted with the close collaboration with C. Bechstein and emphasizes: "C. Bechstein is a legendary brand. I am very pleased that this partnership is continuing. They produce magnificent instruments."
