Roman Salyutov was born in Leningrad in 1984. He studied piano and conducting first in his native city (since renamed Saint Petersburg), then in Cologne. Subsequently, he studied at Paderborn University and obtained his PhD in musicology with a thesis on César Franck’s semantics.
Mastering a repertoire that includes some four hundred works, ranging from the Baroque era to the 21st century, he has performed mainly in Germany, but also in Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Lithuania, Hungary, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and the US. Moreover, he regularly gives master classes and musicology lectures in Germany and other countries.
Roman Salyutov, who lives in Bergisch Gladbach near Cologne, was appointed chief conductor of this city’s symphonic orchestra and has initiated several festivals held there. He is also the president of the association “Musik- und KulturFestival GL e.V.”.
