The Carl Bechstein Foundationen has been nominated for the Pianos for Schools project, which won last year’s German Culture Promotion Award (Deutscher Kulturförderpreis). Within the framework of this project, the foundation has provided more than 120 pianos free of charge to elementary schools since April 2013. If you think that’s a good thing, vote for us!

In late 2012, the C. Bechstein Pianofortefabrik AG and Kuthe GmbH, represented by Stefan Freymuth, and two private benefactors (Berenice Küpper and Karl Schulze) joined forces to found the non-profit Carl Bechstein Foundation.

This year, some 600 people and projects nationwide are in the running for the Audience Award of the 2016 German Commitment Award (Deutscher Engagementpreis). A total of over 900 participants have been nominated for this award, which honors voluntary services from people for people, as well as all those who make this work visible by awarding the prize. And now the Carl Bechstein Foundation has a chance to win the Audience Award. The awards ceremony will be held on 5 December 2016 in Berlin.

The German Commitment Award was first presented in 2009. It benefits from the support of the Alliance for the Public Interest (Bündnis für Gemeinnützigkeit), a federation of large non-profit organizations and independent groups. The three sponsors (the German Television Lottery, Generali Future Funds, and the Federal Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth) are unflagging advocates for the support and recognition of civic engagement in Germany.
