We are pleased to announce that our succesful Prague concert series Influencers of Resonance enters into its second season this autumn. As for the previous concerts, our Czech colleagues and we have invited outstanding Czech pianists who are going to perform on a C. Bechstein concert grand D 282 in the beautiful Convent of St Agnes of Bohemia.
On 30 September, pianist Marek Kozák is going to open the season. With his selection...
'...I want to give tribute to Johann Sebastian Bach and his later admirers. A certain role in this decision was played by my “other” face – as an organist. I will follow up the French Suite in G major with Busoni’s monumental transcription of Bach’s violin Chaconne in D minor. The first part of the concert will conclude in a lighter tone with three parts of Partita in E major for solo violin, arranged by Sergei Rachmaninoff.
After the interval I will then present the composers who created the transcriptions of Bach’s works with their own compositions – the passion and emotions of Sonata in B-flat minor by Sergei Rachmaninoff will be complemented by a selection from the 24 Preludes of Ferruccio Busoni, a perfect counterbalance to the sonata.'
Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750): French Suite in G major, BWV 816
Johann Sebastian Bach / Ferruccio Busoni: Chaconne in D minor, BWV 1004
Johann Sebastian Bach / Sergej Rachmaninov: Suite from Partita in E major for solo violin, BWV 1006
