C. Bechstein organizes a second Beethoven cycle in Prague

Following on the success of the first Beethoven cycle that Saleem Ashkar played in Prague’s Saint Agnes convent, a second edition of the series is to be held during the 2017/2018 season.

Saleem Ashkar recently played all Beethoven’s sonatas during a cycle of four recitals given at Prague’s Saint Agnes convent. The events were very successful and the audiences gave the talented pianist standing ovations. People in the Czech capital will undoubtedly enjoy the next Beethoven cycle that C. Bechstein plans to organize in their city, during which Ashkar is to interpret anew all sonatas by the great composer.
The four recitals are scheduled at Saint Agnes convent on November 27, 2017 and on February 26, April 16 and June 4, 2018.

Saleem Ashkar was born in Nazareth. At the age of seventeen, he was discovered by Zubin Mehta and given the opportunity to perform with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Ashkar performed at Carnegie Hall five years later and has asserted himself as one of the leading pianists of his generation ever since. Moreover, the recitals he gave in Berlin and Prague established him as one of the greatest Beethoven specialists of the moment.
