Steven Osborne

Steven Osborne, born 1971 in Scotland, studied in Edinburgh and Manchester. In 1991, he won the Clara Haskil Competition as well as the 1997 International Naumburg Competition in New York. In Great Britain he performs continually with leading orchestras, such as the Royal Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, Philharmonia, City of Birmingham Symphony, BBC Symphony etc. Every year he appears as guest musician at Wigmore Hall and at the Edinburgh Festival, and Steven Osborne has played at the London Proms six times, among which was one of BBC's live TV-transmitted performances of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue with the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sir Andrew Davis. In Germany, Steven Osborne has played with the Munich Philharmonic as well as recently with the NDR Radio Philharmonic Hanover, German Symphony Orchestra Berlin and Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin. Steven Osborne records exclusively for Hyperion. Highly prized recordings have appeared with works by Alkan, Beethoven, Debussy, Kapustin, Liszt, Messiaen and Rachmaninow along with concertante performances of works by Britten and Tippett. For the first Bechstein DVD, Steven Osborne recorded works by Debussy, Liszt and Mussorgsky. Furthermore, a CD recording on Bechstein with the Berlin Philharmonic is available.
