Ching-Yun Hu

Ching-Yun Hu was born in Taipei before moving to the USA at the age of fourteen to study music. Having played the piano ever since she was a little girl, she studied at Juilliard School in New York under Herbert Stessin and Oxana Yablonskaya, and Cleveland Institute of Music under Sergei Babayan. She is currently pursuing her studies at Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media under Professor Karl-Heinz Kämmerling.

Ching-Yun Hu made her solo debut at the age of thirteen with the chamber orchestra of Capella Cracoviensis on a tour of Japan and Taiwan before going on to win Taipei International Piano Competition three years later. Meanwhile, her career has taken her to five continents: she has performed at top venues (Wigmore Hall in London, Alice Tully Hall in New York, Tel Aviv Opera House, the National Concert Hall in Taipei, the Kennedy Center in Washington, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Salle Cortot in Paris), playing with major orchestras (National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan, Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra, Israel Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra and New York Sinfonietta).

Ching-Yun Hu can also look back on countless successes in international competitions, including the International Piano Forum (Frankfurt), the Concert Artists Guild International Competition (New York), the Hattori Foundation Competition (London), the Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition (Tel Aviv), the Louisiana International Piano Competition (Louisiana) and the Scottish International Piano Competition (Glasgow).
