The first International Carl Bechstein Piano Competition was held in 2006. Under the patronage of Vladimir Ashkenazy, and supervised by renowned and experienced jurors, it was immediately classed among the world’s most important piano competitions. More than 250 very talented musicians from fifty-five nations participated in an event of overwhelming quality, which was widely covered by the international press. The following pages contain the requirements for 2006.
